Starcard

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Starcardgift LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Starcard (“Starcard,” “we,” or “us”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and service. Please read it before using Starcard.

Information we collect

  • Account information. The email address and basic profile information you use to sign in. Passwords are handled by the authentication provider and are not stored by Starcard.
  • Content you provide. Voice recordings, names, occasions, riddles, and other content that organizers and contributors add to a Starcard.
  • Contributor contact information. The email address a contributor may choose to provide when recording a message.
  • Payment information. Payment status, amount, currency, and payment-provider references. Stripe processes payment details; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Consent records. The versions of our Terms and Privacy Policy you acknowledged, when you acknowledged them, and your separate marketing-email preference.
  • Usage information. Limited information about how the service is used, including operational events needed to understand payments, delivery, reliability, and security.

How we use information

We use information to provide and operate Starcard, authenticate accounts, process payments, collect and deliver voice messages, communicate about your cards, prevent abuse, keep the service secure, and improve how it works. If a contributor later creates a Starcard with the same email, we may connect the account to the original referral.

Voice recording privacy

Voice recordings are encrypted in transit, stored in private object storage, and served through short-lived playback links after Starcard validates access. Recordings are not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized personnel may access content only when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or support the service, or to comply with law.

Emails and notifications

We send service and transactional messages needed to provide Starcard. These can include sign-in links, invitations requested by an organizer, contribution updates, payment receipts, card-status notices, delivery confirmations, and important security or legal notices. These messages are separate from marketing and may continue while you have an account, an active card, or a recent purchase.

Promotional emails are optional. If you choose to receive product updates or offers, we record that choice separately and each marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe. Declining or unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the service messages needed to fulfill your purchase or operate your account.

Service providers

We rely on providers for hosting, authentication, database and private media storage, payment processing, email delivery, and product analytics. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the service providers described above, when you direct us to share it, as part of the intended Starcard experience, to protect Starcard or its users, or when required by law.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember necessary service state. Optional browser analytics load only after you accept the analytics banner. We may also record limited server-side operational events, such as a successful payment or card finalization, to operate, secure, and measure the service; these events do not set browser analytics cookies.

Data retention

Finalized Starcards do not expire automatically. We keep a Starcard and its recordings until its organizer deletes it or closes the account, or until removal is reasonably necessary for legal, security, abuse-prevention, or service-operation reasons. When you delete a Starcard, we remove it from your account and attempt to delete associated recordings. Storage cleanup may be delayed if a provider is temporarily unavailable. Payment, consent, security, and other records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, fraud-prevention, or security purposes.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including private storage, encrypted transmission, short-lived media links, and access controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can delete a Starcard to begin removing its recordings, decline or withdraw marketing consent, or contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information.

Children

Starcard is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice or request a new acknowledgement when required by law or when a change is material.
